Hi. My name is Barbara Flesher. I have been teaching fifth grade at Nativity for 17 years, and this is my first year teaching fourth grade. I love how the children develop opinions, engage in classroom discussions, and have a desire to learn. As a teacher, it’s a privilege that I get to be a stepping stone on their path. My favorite subjects to teach are math and religion. I love being able to discuss and model our Catholic values in every facet of teaching. I believe God lead me to Nativity and opened the door to work with fifth grade students. I enjoy being able to take their education to the next level and help them develop into strong, faith-orientated individuals.
I grew up on a farm in Hays, Kansas, with a family rich in tradition and strong in Catholic values. I received a Catholic education from elementary through high school. I graduated from the University of Kansas with a degree in speech pathology/audiology and a minor in education. I married Kevin, my high school sweetheart. We lived in both California and Texas, before settling in Colorado. We’ve raised three children, who all graduated from Nativity of Our Lord School.
I am known around school for my cinnamon rolls inspired by my grandmother. It is not unusual for me to bake for my students after a class mass or just for a job well done. In my free time, you can find me hiking in the mountains, traveling, driving back to Kansas to visit my family, or creating memories with my children.
