¡Hola! My name is Beatriz Ocampo. I am very excited to be the elementary Spanish teacher and delighted to be part of the Nativity Catholic School community! We have been parishioners of Nativity for 20 years and have been at the school since 2001. I began my teaching career here at Nativity, where I was involved as a parent, a volunteer, and a substitute before becoming a full-time teacher.
I was born in México City, México, and raised in a fully bilingual home. I received a Bachelor of Science in Computer Engineering from Ohio State University and worked as a software engineer at AT&T Bell Labs for several years. I have taught Spanish in Catholic schools since receiving my teaching license.
I have been married for 28 years to my husband, Carlos. We have three sons, who are graduates of Nativity. Someday I want to visit every state in the U.S. and México and travel the world. I enjoy reading suspenseful historical fiction books, and I spend a lot of time watching my boys play soccer and run track and cross country.
I love teaching and sharing my love for Spanish with my students. I enjoy seeing my students’ eyes light up when they realize they can carry on a conversation in Spanish and practice with their peers what they're learning in class. And, I especially love that we are in a school where we can pray en Español.
