Hello, my name is Jaclyn Brandenburg, and I teach middle school science at Nativity. I was born and raised in Orlando until I was 12, then I spent the next ten years in rural Arkansas where I finished growing up, went to college, and got married. Most of my married life has been spent in Atlanta, until moving to Denver in July of 2016. My husband, Andy, is an inspector at Suncor in Commerce City. Andy and I have three boys.
I was homeschooled from pre-k through 12th grade. My last two years of high school were also my first two years of college. Since I was able to start college early, I graduated with my Bachelors in mid-level education the same week that I turned 20. I never intended to teach in a public school, although I did a year of student-teaching in one. I spent my first four years as a teacher running my own full time tutoring business, for which I taught just about every subject from pre-k to 12th. The next six years I spent teaching for an online public school. Then I spent several years teaching off-and-on between hybrid schools, private tutoring, and homeschooling my own children. I’m very excited to be back in the classroom here at Nativity and look forward to being here for many years to come.
Some of my favorite things to do are hiking, spending time with family, cooking, exploring new places, and traveling. My favorite subjects to teach are middle school math and science. My favorite Bible verse is, “Be joyful in hope, patient in affliction, faithful in prayer” (Romans 12:12).
