Hi, my name is Kathy Shadel, and I have been the principal at Nativity of Our Lord School for 11 years. I began my career at Nativity in 1974 as a second grade teacher. This was followed by a move to the fifth grade, and then to literature and language arts teacher for sixth grade. Along the way, I was the assistant principal for several years. I earned my bachelor’s as well as master’s degrees from the University of Colorado at Boulder.
I was born in Iowa, but raised in Boulder with my three brothers and three sisters. Family has always been, and continues to be, my number one priority. I have been blessed with terrific parents and in my marriage of 41 years. I have a son and a daughter, and they are the best people I know, in addition to my three amazing grandchildren! Celebrations with family members for birthdays and holidays are always the best times of the year for me. My other favorite past-time is reading a good murder mystery.
I am saying farewell to the Nativity community in June of 2018. I will be retiring after spending 44 years of my life in such a wonderful place and with such wonderful people. Imagine teaching a child, watching him/her go off to high school and beyond, and having them return with their child to entrust to your care as a Nativity student. Nothing can be more gratifying!
