My name is Leigh Woods and I am one of our second grade teachers. This is my fourth year teaching at Nativity, but I worked for two years as an aide in third grade before the second grade position opened up.
I also taught for two years at Assumption School from 2000 to 2002. I was so happy to get in at Nativity because I felt I knew exactly where God was calling me to be. I feel blessed I get to do something I love, and I am able to share my faith every day.
I grew up on a dryland wheat farm outside of Roggen, Colorado. There were no Catholic schools anywhere nearby, so I attended public school and went to Weld Central High School in another small Colorado town called Keenesburg. It was my mom’s dream that we’d be able to go to a Catholic college, so I attended Regis University. I met my amazing husband, Scott, on my first day as a freshman! While at Regis, I found working with kids so much fun and natural to me that part of my major and minor became elementary education.
All three of our children have been enrolled at Nativity. Our oldest son is now a sophomore at Holy Family, and my daughters still attend here. As a parent, I have enjoyed the school’s small community feeling like the one I grew up with, the focus on our faith, and the high academic expectations.
Outside of teaching, some of my favorite things to do are baking, reading, and playing volleyball. I am also a big Chicago Cubs and Broncos fan!
