My name is Lisa Matthews, and I am honored to be teaching in my seventh year at Nativity. I am the middle school social studies teacher here. Previously, I taught middle school social studies at St. John the Baptist in Longmont. I was born and raised in Southern California, where I graduated from Bishop Montgomery High School. I went on to earn my Bachelor of Arts in Political Science at the University of California Los Angeles (UCLA). I also attended law school and worked as a lawyer for a number of years before answering the call to teach.
My husband, Rick, and I have been married for 29 years. We moved our family to Colorado in 1994. I attended the University of Colorado at Boulder to earn my teaching certification. Last year, I graduated from CU with my master’s in educational leadership. Both of our children are graduates of St. John the Baptist and Holy Family High Schools. We are proud grandparents of two grandsons. I love teaching and working with my students. My favorite subject is U.S. History, and I especially love teaching about the U.S. Constitution.
