¡Hola! My name is Lissette Gutierrez, and I am the middle school Spanish teacher here at Nativity. I have a bachelor’s degree in marketing, but then I decided to get my master’s in special education. I began my career in Florida, where I taught second and third grade. We moved to Colorado in 1999, and I have called Nativity my home ever since. I taught first grade for a year, followed by 17 wonderful years teaching fourth grade before moving on to middle school.
My parents were from Cuba, but I was born in Miami, Florida. I grew up in the Dominican Republic, later returning to Miami. My husband, Dario, and I have three wonderful children who graduated from Nativity. Now we are the very proud grandparents of two. My absolute favorite thing to do is spending time with my family, followed by shopping, watching sports, and going to the beach (it’s one of the things I miss most about Florida).
I feel extremely blessed to be teaching at Nativity. The opportunity to meet so many wonderful coworkers and families, as well as the lifelong friends I have made here, are true gifts from God. Sharing my faith and encouraging students to work hard, believe in themselves, and be caring, respectful individuals are the reasons I teach at Nativity. This truly is a special school, and I couldn’t imagine teaching anywhere else!
